Easy DIY Snow for Kids

As the summer is getting hotter, and the kids are getting older it's getting harder and harder to keep them busy and entertained! I feel like I should be a pro with toddlers now, coming up with crafts and activities, but now as we approach the ages of 5 and 6 it's a whole new ball game. They aren't interested in finger paints or sorting shapes.

So on this hot and sunny day we decided to make fake snow! It's fun, simple, and non-toxic.

You will need:

•Baking Soda

•Water

•Small containers

•Food coloring (optional for fun)

I normally just eyeball these measurements, but you can start with 1/2 cup of baking soda and a tablespoon of water. Blend together with your hands. If too watery add more baking soda, and if not "snowy" enough add a few more drops of water gradually.

The kids loved this and then asked if they could add food coloring. So we made pink, blue, and green snow too! If you do choose to do the food coloring, beware! The kids hands were stained for quite awhile!
